#9 Job Continued

In Chapter thirty one Job concludes his last speech. In this chapter we have the masculine counterpart to Proverbs thirty one - a description of the ideal man. Undoubtedly this was an accurate description of the man Job and should be laid along side God’s description of him in chapter one. Here he is put forward as one who reverences God and loves his fellow man. Yet, in the closing verses of the chapter we see Job falter in his analysis of the situation. He refers to God as his accuser. Of course, we know that it was Satan that accused and that was the immediate cause of his suffering. God allowed it in order to demonstrate the true greatness of Job.
